Trash the Dress with Lisa
Last week I did a "Trash the Dress" session with another photographer, and we had a blast! As a brief explanation, I pulled this description off Wikipedia: "A model often wears a ball gown, prom dress or wedding dress and may effectively ruin the dress in the process by getting it wet, dirty or in extreme circumstances tearing or destroying the garment. It may also be done as an additional shoot after the wedding, almost as a declaration that the wedding is done and the dress will not be used again. It is seen as an alternative to storing the dress away, never to be seen again." Trash the Dress is basically a photo shoot with someone modeling a wedding dress that you can ruin if you want, because no one will be wearing it again. Awesome, right? I think so. We picked Lisa up in Northfield, a place I hadn't been to since my sister graduated prep school 10 years ago. Northfield is farm country, so I made sure to bring my cowboy boots, and I was so thrilled with the shots I got with them! Lisa is getting married at the end of the month, and I must say she was every photographer's dream: so easy to work with and willing to do whatever we wanted to get the shot, including shlepping through a real working barn and being mauled by goats :) These are a few of my favorites, but I have so many it was hard to choose! I may post a few more later this week.
The first place we stopped was an old car junkyard in Northfield that had these great, rusty old cars with actual trees and plants growing through them. So cool looking!
Next we hit up a train track in Northfield to get these shots...
I wanted to experiment with "leading lines", so we made Lisa lay down in the middle of the road. She was such a good sport!
We drove around trying to find our next destination, and ended up finding this great running farm when we crossed into Vermont (my future home!) The couple who lived there were happy to let us photograph around the farm with the stipulation that we didn't climb in with the cows. It was tempting but we resisted, and had SO MUCH FUN!
See??? There was a bride in front of that goat!!! Told ya!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this photo!!!!
So I really wasn't kidding when I said Lisa was mauled by goats. There was 6 or 7 running around the farm, and they fell in love with us. More accurately, they fell in love with Lisa's bouquet. These are some of my favorite shots because Lisa's so natural in them.... I mean, honestly, how can you not laugh at several goats swarming you and eating flowers out of your hand?
We were losing light after shooting for 2 hours, so these are some of the last shots of the day...
Lisa, thank you so much for being such a great model! We had a blast. Hope you did too :) Good luck with your wedding; you are going to be a gorgeous bride!
