Kat and Ray

Recently, one of my friends was talking to me about getting nervous about the 7 year itch. She is coming up on her 7 year wedding anniversary (let me just say, even though this is an older friend, it scares the BEJESUS out of me that I am old enough to have a friend married for 7 years) and they're still happy as clams, but someone in her family had teased her about it, and she got really nervous that seven years in they might start to get bored. Being single for about 7 years myself, I can't imagine anything more boring than my life (just this morning I compared it to the excitement of a Matlock episode), so I looked up what this whole 7 year itch business was all about. Supposedly after being with someone for 7 years you can get bored, and basically develop an "itch" to scratch. I used to be somewhat superstitious about things- I never walked under a ladder, and I always tried to avoid black cats- but there are certain superstitious things that I simply don't believe in. The 7 year itch is one of them. Kat and Ray met in college, while they were both attending UCONN. Ray was living with his sister Genevieve (hi Genna!) and Kat immediately caught his eye. Kat, under the impression that Genevieve was Ray's girlfriend, thought Ray was a bit of a creeper. Luckily, he got up the nerve to talk to her and set her straight about his dating status, and soon after they were inseparable. That was seven years ago, and they are still going strong, living together and laughing together and sharing the best and worst moments of their lives with each other. Accoridng to the definition of the "seven year itch" that I found on the internet, after 7 years, couples can often start to look at other options. The only option Ray looked at was making Kat his wife, and I was honored to photograph their wedding on Friday at Brooksby Farm in Peabody. I had Melissa Deschamp helping me out on this one, and we had so much fun! Here are a few (and by a few, I mean wayyyyy too many) favorites from the day! I actually had more, but then my iMac died last night before I could edit them... ANNOYING. So I may be adding to this post later in the week when I get my beloved computer back from the Apple doctor :)

Getting ready...

Kat and Ray chose to see each other before the ceremony and do all their pictures then, which always makes for such a relaxed afternoon! While we were waiting for Kat, I snapped a couple portraits of Ray... and while I could easily post one of those nice, serious ones... I feel like the groom will appreciate it so much more if I post this one :)
