Gallagher and Dave
Ya know what I love about weddings? How different they can be. I didn't do it on purpose, but I prepped this blog entry at the same time as the previous entry, Colleen and Ryan. And for two weddings that took place in the same state, in pretty much the same season, those two weddings could not have been more different. Both were absolutely beautiful and unique in their own ways... it's just one of the best parts of the job to be able to go to your 60th wedding of the season and have it feel like your first, because it is unlike any of the past weddings you've done. I love that!
Gallagher and Dave were married at his family's farm in Carlisle, MA, and from the minute I got there, I knew this would be a unique affair. The schedule of the day was very different and allowed us to really see a lot of this beautiful property and learn about what they do there. When guests arrived, they were greeted by the bride and groom (who saw each other during a First Look) and their parents, and treated to a drink and a map of the farm. It was like a cocktail hour before the wedding, and most guests wandered the farm and mingled for about an hour. When it was time to get married, Gallagher and Dave and guests weren't squished into the barn.... we actually marched to an outer field, where guests sat on hay bales and fires burned around us to keep us warm. And when Gallagher and Dave lead guests to the tent, they did so carrying a huge torch from the "unity fires" they had lit. Like I said, it was unique, different, and altogether magical... I have to thank Amanda of Orchard Cove Photography again so much for including me in this wedding. I'm sure she wanted to kill me... because I didn't know the exact time and layout of the day, I showed up to the farm wearing dress flats and no socks... so needless to say, this wedding was probably one of the coldest times I can remember in my life, but I honestly loved being there. It was beautiful. Here are some of my favorite photos!
Inside the barn Gallagher and Dave had made the most amazing family tree!
The tent was absolutely gorgeous... not too overdone, just very organic and beautiful... for as cold as the day was, the colors and decorations in the tent warmed me right up!
I hung with the guys as they got ready...
Did anyone ever see Gattaca with Ethan Hawke and Jude Law? I don't know why, but when I took these pictures that's all I was thinking of. I think it's the glasses, but Dave was sooooooo Jude Law from Gattaca. Very dapper!!
J. Crew, you complete my life...
Time for the First Look....
The look of a girl about to marry her very best friend...
Watching their doggies run around in the swamp :)
Little dogs with bow ties EVERYWHERE... it was too cute.
Walking down to the ceremony...
Okay, here's where I make yet another pathetic pitch to any future brides I might have... write your own vows!!! Honestly, Gallagher and Dave had everyone crying, laughing, then crying some more. Their vows were beautiful... I CHOKED UP and I had met them that morning. And funnnnnnny.... their vows were FUNNY. There was one point in Gallagher's vows where she was crying because what she was saying to Dave was very serious and heartfelt... and somehow it segued into their love of cheese (they both work on Dave's family's farm)... and she said, while still crying... "We both really love cheese!" And honestly I don't think I've ever heard more uproarious laughter during a ceremony. Please note her parent's reaction in the bottom righthand photo.
Once everyone's candles were lit, we headed over to the tent!
There were some beautiful speeches...
And then Gallagher's dad sang a song...
"Cake cutting"... I think it was actually cheese cutting lol, which in my humble opinion, is even better... I really love cheese too :)
Congratulations to Gallagher and Dave, and thank you again for having me Amanda!
